His experience ranges from being a Director of Photography for 5 time Emmy nominated TV show Mythbusters, to being a trusted solo documentary filmmaker.

ALIA BEETON

FOUNDER, CHIEF STORYTELLER

Alia holds a BFA and Gold Medal in Dance, which is really only relevant in that she dances skillfully between the roles of video editor, writer, producer, production manager, art department, billing department, voiceover artist and casting director for the company. Her interdisciplinary background in the arts - especially the weaving of choreography, music, and storytelling - has coalesced to inform and energize the creative implementation of our films. Having also been an actor on stage and screen, she is now much happier in the edit suite, or on set assistant directing, lighting, even lugging grip. In whatever capacity she is put to use, she champions meaningful media and is committed to telling the stories that educate, inspire, and evolve culture for the good of all.

Outside of Humans Being Media, Alia is a mother, handywoman, and humor essayist. She croons with French-infused swing jazz quintet The Beguilers,  and produces a literary arts salon. She is an avid gobbler of books and podcasts, and is perpetually delighted by art, science, psychology, consciousness, culture, and how it all intersects.

For small productions, we operate as a 2-person crew, creating a space that nurtures vulnerability and a feeling of safety for our interviewees.

For larger productions, our crews are comprised of trusted collaborators chosen for their experience, talent, sensitivity, and alignment with our company’s mission.
